Giving to Japan

Here are some good organizations for people interested in giving to relief efforts in Japan.

1. This project will provide immediate and long-term support to ORPHANAGES in Tohoku and other areas that were affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami. This support includes delivering basic necessities and services to help children regain a sense of stability in their lives. We'll provide material support such as clothing, footwear, toys, books, school supplies, and bikes. For emotional support, this includes counseling and therapeutic activities (field trips,Yoga, camps,etc...)

2. This is a project created by a JET ALT in Akita prefecture to buy and deliver FRESH FRUIT to people in Kesennuma at an evacuation center. His first trip is scheduled for April 29th – May 8th, but he wants to make it an ongoing project.

3. Christian Relief, Assistance, Support and Hope (CRASH) is a network supporting Christians to do relief work in Japan and around the world. CRASH equips and prepares churches and missions to be there to help their communities when disasters strike and coordinates Christian
volunteers to work with local ministries in the event of a disaster.
CRASH has several base camps set up, including one in my prefecture at Ibaraki Christian University.

4. The Park Avenue and Bramalea churches in the USA will forward funds on to the Mito Church of Christ in Japan (this is the church I currently attend in Japan). Pastors from different churches in the area will decide how to best use the money for earthquake and tsunami relief.

5. A great way for TEACHERS, STUDENTS and schools to get involved. Students make paper cranes and write messages of hope and encouragement to students in Japan. Donations go to a charity of the school's choice.

  2. Hi Kristin,

I'm a fan of your blog. My school raised money by making thousand paper cranes. I'm looking for a school which could receive the cranes and messages from the 3rd graders.
